Bill and I were very fortunate to be granted planning permission to extend the cottage – permission was only granted because we were able to prove that hundreds of years ago the cottage was a 3 bay cottage and the 3rd bay had subsequently disappeared. We were granted planning permission on the condition that the extension did not match the rest of the house (we had initially wanted to rebuild it as it would have been when first built). This turned out to be a blessing in disguise because they accepted an oak frame with glass infill – the perfect art studio above a garden room! We have now started the groundwork, and I will update this site with photos as we progress. When the extension is complete, I shall be opening to the public 2 days a week, and will use the downstairs “garden room” as a gallery. |
